Step 1: Register a DRM-X Account
To get started with DRM-X service, you need to register a DRM-X Account from http://www.drm-x.com/.
In the home page, click Apply Now to apply a new DRM-X Account, and then you will need follow the register wizard, choose which Account type you want to register.
Step 2: Sign In to Your DRM-X Account
Your DRM-X Account is the hub of your management, the console that houses your DRM service and provides tools manage rights, permission, users and other tools. To visit your DRM-X Account anytime, just type www.drm-x.com in the address bar of your web browser.
You'll arrive on your DRM-X Account.
Step 3: Create User Group and Users
Before start protecting your files, you need to Create User Group and Users and then set who will have the permission to access your protected files.
where you can add and edit On the left side, you will see My Account panel. You can click User Group. User Group is the category of users. For example, you can classify users by payment, such as Golden Membership. A Default User Group has been created for you already. In the Edit Page of User Group, you will be able to set which License the Group has the permission to Access.
You can click Group Users, and check the Users of the Default Group. You will see the sample testuser account which DRM-X platform has created for you already. To enable the users, you need to add Money to them. Click the Edit user link, in the Account Information panel, you will see the Money field, then add money to the user.
Step 4: Create Rights and License Profile
It's time for us to set Rights. You can control the use of protected content by setting License Rights. All the Rights are for the License Profiles. For example, you can set a Right like this: Can play 10 times and expire on December 31, 2010.
In the My Account panel, please click the Rights link. In the Rights page, you will see Rights Sample 1 which DRM-X platform has created for you. Click Edit Rights, you will be able to see rights in details and edit rights settings. For protecting Audio/Video files, we don't need to set Enable DRM-X for Document.
In the My Account panel, please click the License Profile link. You will see DRM-X platform has already created six License Profile Sample for you. Please click the Edit link and manage License Profile in details.
In Step 3, you know Users are classified by User Groups. We also need to create License Profile which includes License Rights. If you encrypt 2 files with a same License Profile, users will be able to play both of the files after they get the license, for the license they use is same. A License Profile can include multiple rights, so the End Users can choose which license rights they want to buy.
Step 5: Protect Audio/Video Files
After you created User Group, Users, Rights and License Profile, you will be able to protect Audio/Video Files.
It's time for us to use online DRM-X Audio/Video Packager to encrypt multimedia files and Haihaisoft Universal Player to play them. Haihaisoft Universal Player is a powerful media player which supports almost all popular digital media formats and can also play digital media files protected by DRM-X platform.

Please you download and install DRM-X Audio/Video Packager and Haihaisoft Universal Player, and then run the DRM-X Audio/Video Packager program, you need to login DRM-X Audio/Video Packager with the same login Email and Password that you created in DRM-X account.
After you login, you will see the main Window. You can browse multiple files and select a License Profile that you want to encrypt. Click the Encrypt button, the encrypting will be finished soon, then you can open the protected file by Haihaisoft Universal Player and acquire license with the end user account that you created in DRM-X platform to play the file.
Step 6: Protect PDF Documents
We need to create a right for protecting PDF documents. In My Account panel, please click the Rights link. In the Rights page, click Add Right. You need to set right, for example, input:
Right Description: Rights For PDF.
Right Price: 1 USD,.
Play Count or Open Document Count: 3.
Begin Date: 2009-6-6.
Expiration Date: 2015-6-6.
Expiration After First Use: 3 Hours.
Please make sure you select Protect PDF Document for protecting PDF. And then you can choose enable Allow Print or Allow Clipboard.
After you created the new right, please set the rights for License Profile. In the License Profile page, you need to Edit and enable the License Profile has the permission to access the Rights for PDF we just created.
It's time for us to use online DRM-X PDF Packager to encrypt PDF files, and install Haihaisoft PDF Reader to read the protected PDF files. Haihaisoft PDF Reader is a free PDF document Reader and Printer, with very small size (only 3.1 MB), extremely fast launch speed and rich feature set. It is a powerful PDF Reader with built-in 39 languages.

Please download and install Haihaisoft PDF Reader, and then run the online DRM-X PDF Packager program, you need to login to your DRM-X Account with the login Email and Password that you created in DRM-X account.
After you login, you will see the main Window. You can browse multiple files and select a License Profile that you want to encrypt. Click the Encrypt button, the encrypting will be finished soon, then you can open the protected file in Haihaisoft PDF Reader and acquire license with the end user account that you created in DRM-X platform to play the file.
Step 7: Publish
After you protected the files, you can publish the DRM-X protected files anywhere, for example, download from your website, put the protected files in CD, and upload to P2P file sharing networks. We encourage customers to copy the files, because every time a new computer got the protected files, customers need to acquire license to play. Once a license has been received, a consumer can watch or listen to the file based on the rules arranged by you. The license cannot be copied or shared, it generated by DRM-X servers and base-on customers' computer hardware information. So you can safely publish the files to anywhere!
Step 8: Update
Because Licenses are issued independently of the actual documents and media files, you can update rights settings without need to encrypt the files again.
Next Steps
After you publish, you'll need to let customers to download Haihaisoft Universal Player for play protected media files or Haihaisoft PDF Reader to read protected PDF documents.
