How does Haihaisoft DRM-X platform protect downloaded media content from being
tampered with?
Haihaisoft DRM-X encrypts content and signs content with license key to
maintain content protection, even if these files are widely distributed
Haihaisoft Universal Player can detect if encrypted content has been corrupted
and deny access to it. Each license is uniquely assigned to each computer. This
prevents illegal distribution of digital media files. Haihaisoft DRM-X also
employs industry-standard tamper-resistance techniques to help protect the
local DRM licenses.
How does Haihaisoft DRM-X protect content from being stolen?
Haihaisoft DRM-X encrypts content and associates it with a right permission.
The permission specifies rights and users for the content: who can view the
content; when; and for how long. Only users with Haihaisoft Universal Player or
Haihaisoft PDF Reader, who may require authorization and/or authentication to
view the content, are issued a license key that to play the content. Licenses
are issued independently of the actual documents and media files, providing
maximum flexibility and allowing wide distribution of content. Each time a file
is opened, Haihaisoft Universal Player or Haihaisoft PDF Reader checks to see
if the consumer's computer has a license. Consumers who do not have a valid
license are directed to a license registration page. Content providers can
provide unique credentials to their customers to help control access to
content.
How does Haihaisoft DRM-X integrate with existing user authentication and/or
order management systems?
Haihaisoft DRM-X provides an API based-on XML Web Service that developers can
use to invoke and deliver license to users after authentication or order. For
more information, integrate with DRM-X.
Can users play content even if they are not connected to the internet?
It depends on the rights settings, but yes, if the rights settings for the
content states that the user can be offline.
Can content expire?
Yes. The rights associated with the content can specify a date for the content
to expire, or the number of hours the content is valid. Beyond that, the
content will not be played any longer.
Can a user license be limited to a particular computer?
Licenses are associated with users and/or computer. DRM-X identifies each
computer by Computer Hardware ID. With this feature computers can be identified
and disabled during the licensing process. With this feature, it prevents
password sharing between users. You can control the username and passwords can
be used in how many computers.
In the case of misuse, can a user license be revoked?
Licenses can't be revoked. Users can acquire license again after license
expire.
Can users access content anonymously?
It depends on your policy, but yes, if the policy for the content states that
the user can be anonymous. If the user must be identified, then the policy can,
for example, specify an external authorization or authentication service. The
Haihaisoft DRM-X lets developers create an interface between their existing
user authorization or authentication mechanisms and DRM-X platform.
Does Haihaisoft DRM-X support download to own or download to rent scenarios?
Yes. Haihaisoft DRM-X supports download to own, download to rent, and
subscription scenarios. These scenarios require user authentication and
authorization, so you will need to take advantage of the XML Web service API
contained in Haihaisoft DRM-X platform.
Does Haihaisoft DRM-X support watermarking?
Yes, DRM-X provides dynamic watermarking capabilities on protected media
content. A watermark is the text includes Username and text messages that is
superimposed over the media files. In a rights managed media file, the
watermark can be applied dynamically as the media file is played in Haihaisoft
Universal Player or ActiveX player online. The watermark is not editable by
users and is not permanently stored in the media file. The location of the
watermark is customizable by administrators in DRM-X control panel
Rights management and can contain pre-defined text such as an
information classification as well as the user's name and message.
How do I deliver the protected content?
Content protected with Haihaisoft DRM-X platform can be streamed with any Web
Server or delivered via progressive download. The protected content can be
securely and widely distributed to anywhere. It can be distributed via CD, DVD,
download, P2P share, and hard disk copy.
What happens if the encryption on Haihaisoft DRM-X is cracked?
Haihaisoft DRM-X is designed for keeping highest security. All client software,
such as Haihaisoft Universal Player, PDF Reader and ActiveX controls are signed
by Haihaisoft Limited code sign certificate. Content owners can control the
client software version. They can also set license to be combined with hardware
to prevent password sharing. Haihaisoft provides the upgrade DRM-X and backup
solution immediately when crack happens.
Does DRM-X platform protect live streaming?
The content protection in DRM-X platform doesn't support encrypting live
streams today. It will be released in the future.
